An Open Letter to Mindanao Congressmen
November 17th, 2008 at 12:14 am (National Politics)
Honorable Mindanaoan Members of the House of Representatives,
Manolo has appealed for you, Congressmen, to walk the talk. I present to you same challenge. I specifically challenge Mindanaoan congressmen, whose constituents are the victims of the unconstitutional document that is BJE - MOA. It is your people whose land, life, and beliefs were toyed with by the administration in an underhanded power play constructed to make your people believe that the administration cares for them.
I appeal to you to support, sign, and endorse the Impeachment Intervention. I challenge the congressmen who have called for the re-negotiation of the MOA to stand up and be counted, to make it known that they recognize the BJE MOA as a deceitful unconstitutional act by Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
I call on South Cotabato Rep. Darlene Antonino-Custodio, North Cotabato Representative Emmylou Talino-Mendoza, and Zamboanga Representative Maria Isabelle Climaco of Zamboanga, among others, who have opposed BJE MOA, to do the same again, by declaring it an impeachable offense by Arroyo.
I appeal all Mindanaoan Congressmen to be courageous enough to serve their constituents, the people who have entrusted them to represent their ideals, aspirations, and needs, by endorsing the Impeachment Intervention. It is in the best interest of every Mindanaoan to let Arroyo and the government know that we are not mere pawns in their political plays, and we will not allow them to do this. Let them know that we Mindanaoans will not stand idly by while we are being used for somebody else’s gain.
Let the people know you are willing to do your duty to your constituents and to the rest of the Filipino people to protect the constitution. Let them know that the BJE MOA is unconstitutional and the person responsible for it SHOULD PAY FOR THIS GREAT INJUSTICE they have inflicted upon Mindanao and the rest of the Philippines.
One does not need to be a genius to realize that what we have stated and signed, that the BJE MOA is unconstitutional and an impeachable offense, is what is true and right. I challenge every Mindanaoan congressman to stand up for it because you are obliged to do so by your duty to serve and represent your constituent. You will best serve your people by doing so.
Do not just issue statements, do not just ask for a re-negotiation, stop just whining and complaining. Here is your chance to do something concrete, to stand up and be counted, to serve your people. Do it.
Sincerely Yours,
Maria A. Jose
