Duterte Campaigns Against Cha-Cha Before 2010
September 29th, 2008 at 12:27 am (National Politics)
Without mincing words, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has spoken against the moves by certain parties for a Charter Change (Cha-cha) before the 2010 elections. Duterte contends that certain politicians are just going for Cha-Cha in order to extend their political careers. Duterte, himself, is not eligible to run for mayor on 2010.
Duterte seems to pinpoint one politician, in particular, who will gain much if the Cha-cha pushes through. According to Duterte, said politician will probably become prime minister. My speculation, he is pointing a certain local politician who has strong ties with the president. One need not be a genius to figure this one out since Duterte and this politician has been at odds with each other.
Duterte further tells the DavaoeƱos not to support any moves for Cha-cha. Barring any political and personal motives of Duterte, I am agreeing with him. Cha-cha before 2010, and with Arroyo as president is indeed not a thing any Filipino, in his right mind, would want.
Arroyo and his lapdogs have proven to be power hungry and selfish. More years with her as “president” and her lapdogs in the administration would undoubtedly cause a great peril to our already ailing country.
