The Greedy Group

The Senate has issued subpoenas to members of the “Greedy Group.” The “Greedy Group” is composed of the alleged brokers of the controversial NBN Deal. The group is composed of COMELEC Chairperson Benjamin Abalos, retired general Quirino “Torch” Dela Torre, Leo San Miguel, and Ruben Reyes.
Abalos, the most prominent or notorious among the group, has been embroiled in countless controversies, scams, and issues as COMELEC Commissioner. Notable of which are his involvement in the “Hello Garci” scandal, and the NBN Deal. And yes, there was an official impeachment complaint against him.
Dela Torre was the police commander of the Central Luzon region when the Hacienda Luisita massacre occurred. Torre is said to have been involved in the brokering of the NBN Deal via his connection with Reyes.
Dante Madriaga, a former ZTE Consultant got embroiled in the NBN Deal because San Miguel was his former boss. It was Madriaga who asserted that Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her husband Mike Arroyo benefited from the NBN Deal with ZTE.
San Miguel and Reyes are said to be golfing buddies of Abalos.
Abalos, allegedly is refusing to face the Senate as he is already facing the charges filed against him the in Office of the Ombudsman. I didn’t know there was a limitation regarding the number of inquiries one could face.
The reputation and track record of Abalos alone is very much questionable, I wonder what and how many skeletons in the closet will come out during the Senate inquiry, or at the very least, they will try to keep hidden.
