Villar vs Roxas in 2010
November 29th, 2007 at 12:34 am (General, National Politics, Elections 2010)
This early, two popular senators backed by strong political parties are now gearing for their presidential bids in the 2010 Philippine Presidential Elections.
Senator Manuel “Mar” Roxas II has been elected as Liberal Party president with the blanket authority to reorganize the party and appoint its new set of officers. This is said to be in preparation for his presidential bid in 2010.
Meanwhile, Senator Manuel “Manny” Villar, who is both Senate President and President of the Nacionalista Party, is also posturing for his own presidential bid in 2010.
Roxas is backed by a prominent political family background, and a high profile relationship with top female broadcaster Korina Sanchez. Roxas is part of the influential Roxas and Araneta clans. This early a number of his supporters have already started an online campaign via blogs.
On the other hand, Villar is a corporate magnate with virtually unlimited personal funding. Moreover, he was endorsed by popular celebrities such as Angel Locsin and Tessie Tomas during his last senatorial bid. He also seems to have the backing of his Tuesday group which includes Vice-President Noli de Castro, Senators Francis Pangilinan and Joker Arroyo, and Former Senator Ralph Recto.
While both have minimal involvement in major controversies and scandals, both also still have a lot to prove. Both are not strongly affiliated to either the administration or the opposition. While Villar seems to have the greater funding to run a well-oiled political machinery, Roxas’ Liberal Party seems to have more credibility. And while Villar enjoys the endorsement of media celebrities and politicians, Roxas has more charisma.
In 2010, it’s going to be a tight battle between these two. It would be interesting to see how two politicians with seemingly clean track records will survive and succeed in the dirty world of Philippine politics.

It would be a very tight battle indeed if the 2 Manuels (Manuel Villar and Manuel Roxas II) would run in 2010 for President. It might also be tighter if another Manuel (Manuel “Noli” De Castro”) would try to push his luck in 2010.
As of this time, I have not yet encountered a blog or website for the Manny Villar campaign. What I had already seen was an ongoing Bayani Fernando for President campaign.

In 2007 elections, I conducted my research documentation pertaining to violation of election laws, i discovered that of all senatorial candidates whom I considered violators, Manny Villar was the consistent violator of Fair Elections Act. I have readied the petition for disqualification to test the will of the COMELEC to implement the law but wasn’t able to do so because I failed to get a copy of Villar’s COC - as a supporting document - despite formal request.
I think Manny Villar is also good but being violator of law, he doesn’t deserve to be president. To me it’s very important that the president sets the example of obeying the law. Election laws can be said as basic laws and violation of these basic laws could be the basic yardstick in choosing our next president.

My conscience tells me the right person to lead our country is Bayani Fernando. Erap was a failure, Roxas, Villar, Legarda, Escudero, Binay, Pangilinan, Lacson tell me what have they doe for the country, they are are lame talkers. Bayani is a hands on action man and works for solution for the benefit of the many no matter who gets hurt. Choose the dogs and our country will go to the dogs. Choose Bayani there is hope in our future as Pilipinos. Go Bayani Go the country needs you. No to opportunist and trash talking wannabees

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte for president he will bring change in our country. Davao is a good example they have good policies and programs they have a 911 hotline like USA that will respond on time and for Vice Pres. its either LIM or BAYANI they are the people who can really bring change in our beloved country. AGREE?

Lame? armel do you know the meaning of lame? Do you want me to enumerate what Roxas or Roxases did for our country? I don’t want to say something negative to your bet but your pushing me.. BF ideas are so immature.. He’s very violent in disciplining the public. I do appreciate his good works but he is not suited to be the president. after all,the philippines is not small as metro manila. He can’t manage well his jurisdiction, what more in leading the whole country?

there could be a lot of names to mention when talked about the 2010 elections. mar roxas, manny villar and so on. but for me, i think bayani fernando is a much more of a leader. he can be a good president because of the many good things he has done that can also be done when given the chame to be the president on 2010.
