What are Warnings for?

Last night’s devastating bombing of the Batasang Pambansa is punctuated by a very disturbing declaration, “We got the warning two weeks ago.” That is National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales talking about a warning they received regarding a threat on Basilan Representative Wahab Akbar’s life. Gonzales then explains that the warning could now be used for the investigation on the bombing.

But isn’t it warnings are supposed to be used before an event, and not after? If only the government took the warning seriously and put into place the proper precautions and safety measures, Akbar and the two other victims will probably be still alive now. This event goes to show how much the government lacks foresight.

“We got the warning two weeks ago. This could have an implication on who killed him.”

Well DUH. You know when you’re so annoyed and you’re trying not to lash out, resulting in you starting to laugh? That’s what I’m doing right now. LOLing at our national security.
