The local government of Davao City is preparing to develop a “Class A” relocation site for the city’s homeless and informal settlers.
According to City Housing Officer Cesar Dataya, the city has purchased 23 hectares in Los Amigos, Tugbok District for PhP43 million. The said land will be developed as a high quality relocation site complete with paved roads, electricity, water supply, and even a basketball court. The site would also have its commercial area where the residents can build and operate their own businesses.
The entire project would cost the city some PhP 10 million. Hopefully, this project would succeed in relocating the city’s homeless and legitimate (read: not scammers) informal settlers.
Woah, so it’s near our school’s community. Nice move by the city government.
