I woke up late and went straight to work. I’ve been getting my news updates via Twitter, Inquirer.net, and ABS-CBNNews.com, and various blogs. Although it’s not supposed to be laughing matter, the Magdalo mutiny has been reduced to a comedy of epic proportions.

This early, two popular senators backed by strong political parties are now gearing for their presidential bids in the 2010 Philippine Presidential Elections.
Senator Manuel “Mar” Roxas II has been elected as Liberal Party president with the blanket authority to reorganize the party and appoint its new set of officers. This is said to be in preparation for his presidential bid in 2010.

Enough is enough. This was a staged coup d’ etat, uprising, mutiny, whatever you would like to call it. One thing is for sure… Antonio Trillanes IV, Danilo Lim, and their co-conspirators must rot in jail.

Ever since grade school, I was taught that there are three branches of government in the democratic nation state called the Republic of the Philippines. These three branches are the Executive, Legislative, and the Judicial Branches. Each branch is independent from the others. There are three branches so that there is a system of “checks and balance.” I really didn’t understand back then what this meant. But it is clearly etched into my brain.

I know that Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is a busy person. After all, she is pretending to be the president of this country. But doesn’t she employ thousands of people to make sure she does her job right? I don’t think that Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Sergio Apostol’s defense that Arroyo didn’t know she pardoned a convicted killer of Ninoy Aquino is a valid one.

After pardoning Former President Joseph Estrada, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has now pardoned one of the convicted killers of Former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.
Disbelief… that’s what I feel right now. I am overwhelmed with so much disbelief that I have no more room left for anger and frustration.
Should I expect her to pardon the Marcoses next?
