No to Nograles as Speaker of the House

Due to the NBN debacle pitting the Arroyos versus the de Venecias, there are rumors that the Lakas - Kampi alliance is set to oust Jose de Venecia as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. One of the strongest contenders is allegedly Davao City First District Representative Prospero Nograles.

While some are happy that a Mindanaoan will be the House Speaker, I am one with those who oppose the possibility of Nograles being the House Speaker. For one, I do not want him to be representative of who a Mindanaoan or a Davaoeño is. For one, he and his son has been accused of bribery last May 2007 elections. He is also known for his widespread politicking and campaigning even when it’s not campaign season. More importantly, Nograles is a known rabid supporter and defender of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Mike Arroyo.

As Speaker of the House, Nograles will have great influence over the legislative agenda of the Congress. The Congress is supposed to be a body independent of the executive arm of the government. However, with Nograles at the helm, we can be sure that he will be working for Arroyo and Arroyo alone.

From where I stand, and what I know, I think that Nograles is not fit to be the Speaker of the House.

    only duterte is not.. bitter cause nogie has more achievement than his..
    pang mayor lng yan c duterte.. atleast speaker is from mindanao..
    if ever may corruption and projects sa mindanao bagsak at nde na sa luzon..
