Finally! An impeachment case has been filed by Iloilo Vice Governor Rolex Suplico against controversial COMELEC Commissioner Benjamin Abalos Sr.. The case was endorsed by Representatives Teofisto Guingona III, Teodoro Casiño, and Ma. Isabelle Climaco. Curiously, Climaco is an administration ally.
In the complaint, Suplico accused Abalos of culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, graft and corruption, and bribery. These are almost the same cases that were filed against former President Joseph Estrada.
Among others, Abalos has done a very poor job as COMELEC Commissioner. And more recently, he has been hogging the headlines with the allegation that he brokered the controversial NBN ZTE Corp deal. No less than CHEd Commissioner Romulo Neri has accused Abalos of bribery.
Needless to say, Abalos is a very shady character. And a PCIJ investigation does not give a flattering image of him.
Hopefully, this impeachment case will prosper. Or at least shed light on the many dubious deals and decisions of Abalos.

Very good so that politicians in Lanao del Norte will think twice next election that cheating is very bad and karma will come along the way in God’s time. Thanks God that because of the fate of Abalos, last September 21, 2007 more than 3 months after the local election Varf Belmonte was declared as our Congressman of the 1st District of Lanao del Norte. A battle between David and Goliath due to massive vote buying, cheating and tampering of COC’s. Our weapon is only prayers because all the news are sealed and blocked by powerful politicians from my beloved Lanao del Norte.
Benjamin Abalos is a NATIONAL HERO
He sacrificed a lot for our country to have the NBN. He even swallowed his pride and screwed prostitutes in china just to help our country.
the NBN -ZTE deal is the answer to poverty and you just dont know it.
TO ALL
I know this to be out of place. Please bear with me. I just want to create awareness by choosing the busy forum or the latest.
Do consider Dr. Martin Bautista for the next elections obviously (a senatorial candidate of ‘Ang Kapatiran’ together with Adrian Sison and Zosimo Paredes). He’s a 45-year-old gastroenterologist in the US who came home after 17 years. You can see from his background that he truly means service. For those who find him to be a hypocrite for working abroad, do understand he’s a family man who needs to sustain his family, that he will be able to keep his independence by not relying on public funds to support his family. He helps his countrymen in his capacity but it’s just not enough for there are millions of Filipinos. It’s a good start in Philippine Politics to have him and his party around.
I urge you to forward/text/inform all your contacts about them. I believe they only lack exposure that’s why I’m doing this. But I can’t do it alone so I’m appealing to everyone’s help. If all will inform their contacts about them and urge them as well to forward, we might hit a million.
We cannot afford to be indifferent now if we want meaningful change. Otherwise we only have ourselves to blame. BUT TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
