On August 15, 2007, nine college students of the Ateneo de Davao University were apprehended by the school’s security guard for violating the school’s ID policy. That same day the students were verbally reprimanded by the school’s Office of Students’ Affairs (OSA) Director Riki Enriquez. Allegedly, Enriquez verbally reprimanded the students and even called them “liars.” They were not formally informed of the sanctions given to them for their violation. The next day, OSA displayed “wanted posters” of the bulletin boards of the three entrances of the school, and on the OSA bulletin board. The posters displayed the “wanted” students for violating the school’s ID policy as stated in the school’s Students’ Handbook.

A reader named Pian commented on my last entry:
TO ALL
I know this to be out of place. Please bear with me. I just want to create awareness by choosing the busy forum or the latest.
Do consider Dr. Martin Bautista for the next elections obviously (a senatorial candidate of ‘Ang Kapatiran’ together with Adrian Sison and Zosimo Paredes). He’s a 44-year-old gastroenterologist in the US who came home after 17 years. You can see from his background that he truly means service. For those who find him to be a hypocrite for working abroad, do understand he’s a family man who needs to sustain his family, that he will be able to keep his independence by not relying on public funds to support his family. He helps his countrymen in his capacity but it’s just not enough for there are millions of Filipinos. It’s a good start in Philippine Politics to have him and his party around.
I urge you to forward/text/inform all your contacts about them. I believe they only lack exposure that’s why I’m doing this. But I can’t do it alone so I’m appealing to everyone’s help. If all will inform their contacts about them and urge them as well to forward, we might hit a million.
We cannot afford to be indifferent now if we want meaningful change. Otherwise we only have ourselves to blame. BUT TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
I am not sure though if Pian is referring to the 2010 Senate Elections, or if he/she is belatedly campaigning for the past 2007 Senate Elections. Nonetheless, I think her comment is worth posting.

17 days from now, the verdict on former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada’s plunder case will be handed down. At best, it will be at day full of only tears. The worst case scenario, is of course Estrada will be handed an innocent verdict. Other than that, the second-worst scenario is one that is full of drama, suspense, and action, the stuff that Estrada movies were made of. In anticipation of the numerous pro- and anti-Estrada rallies, 6,000 soldiers and cops will be deployed to Metro Manila. It will not be a pretty sight. Remember when the verdicts of other convicted prominent people such as former Mayor Antonio Sanchez, and Hubert Webb and company were? Those were nothing less of circuses. I, we, should expect a circus of much greater proportions.

The Senate is gearing to re-open the “Hello Garci” issue once again. This time, in the guise of an inquiry in aid of legislation regarding wire-tapping. Although I am all for seeking out the truth, I think that investigating the issue once again will only be divisive and unproductive. Personally, I think discerning Filipinos already know the truth, and have already judged and will continue to judge Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo based on it. There is really nothing more to be gained from ferreting out what we already know.

When the 15th Davao City Council first convene, the idea of re-districting Davao City into five instead of only three legislative district was already brought up. Last week, Councilor Peter Laviña delivered a privilege speech regarding the issue.
