The Continuing Saga of the Magdalo Group
January 28th, 2006 at 5:43 am (Military Affairs)
Marine Captain Nicanor Faeldon was finally captured more than a month after he “escaped” from Fort Bonifacio. Faeldon is one of the leaders of the so-called “Magdalo Group” aka the Oakwood Mutineers. He was caught while driving home to his safe house from SM City. While out of military custody, Faeldon has launched insults at the AFP by releasing videos of him freely going inside military and police camps.
Along with Faeldon, his girlfriend Captain Candelaria Rivas was also captured. Rivas was one of the military prosecutors in the cases filed against the mutineers. The AFP is now thinking of filing charges against Rivas. Allegedly, while working on the mutineers’ case, Rivas and Faeldon got close and fell in love. Now, Rivas has explicitly expressed her sympathy for the cause of the Magdalo Group.
Now the AFP is scrambling to silence the cry for arms of the Magdalo Group. According to reports, their weariness has been slowly growing and they have gained a lot of sympathizers among the ranks. Reports are saying that they are just waiting for the right time to launch a coup de etat against the already unstable presidency of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Currently, four of Faeldon’s comrades in the Magdalo group are also out of military custody. They allegedly escaped last January 17. Another officer said to be affiliated with the group has also been declared AWOL.
Sounds like a twisted plot for a primetime teleserye, doesn’t it? Sadly, it’s not fiction. Abangan ang susunod na kabanata!

yeah! Remove the current president! Let magdalo group take over! Let the rallyist (did i spell that right?) rule! — THEN WHAT?
if we continue with this kind of thinking then we are really going to the dogs.
make the most out of the what we have. try supporting Mrs Arroyos GOOD projects. She has been productive so far - but only with what you don’t understand because of your ignorance. It’s for the greater good! you just don’t want to admit that. maybe you are just interested in having things your own way. The Selfish IGNORANT way!
you can put a great mind in malacaƱang or a great person but if you still think like a crab we can only achieve one thing - a place in the book of records for the most ousted president.
Do something productive and go back to WORK! Get a LIFE! And STOP being CRY BABIES!
PEACE!

Sypathize kami sa kanila. Pero sayang dahil
Tactical Error ang ginawa ng Magdalo Group in bringing arms and taking over Oakwood.
It would have been MORE DAMAGING if the Magdalo Soldiers ASSEMBLED AT THE QUIRINO GRANDSTAND, SECURED THEIR WEAPONS AT THE CENTER OF THE FIELD, REMOVED THEIR UNIFORMS AND SAT ON THEM ATOP THE BLEACHERS, AND PRONOUNCED THEIR WITHDRAWAL OF SUPPORT FOR GMA’S ADMINISTRATION IN FRONT OF THE WORLD PRESS.
That Sit-Down Strike + a website of the Administration’s Corruptions would certainly win public opinion WORLDWIDE as it was No Coup.
GMA and her generals would have been “isolated” as phariahs of corruption by the global community.

That was your ONE MOMENT IN TIME! You did not make it shine. Kailan kaya darating ang henerasyon ng mga extreme hardcore ultra-patriotic Pilipino (hanep!) na sisigaw ng “Let’s get it on! To the death!” Sa mga NPA nga, walang ganyan e, sa AFP pa. Ultra right versus ultra left? Sige, ipitin niyo ang mga mga nasa gitna, magbanggaan kayo, mga dyaskeng bata ito… basta kami Above-center.

Capt. Faeldon seems to be the only person who is sane among the Oakwood men. He has repudiated amnesty, refused to plea bargain, refused to take advantage of his notoriety to gain public office — or any other personal gain. He left prison not to escape liability but to “continue the fight for a credible government.” As far as I can see, hero siya talaga.
